Metra to Open New Station Near White Sox Park
CHICAGO (AP) -- Chicago's suburban rail service has announced it is opening a new station near U.S. Cellular Field on the city's South Side.

Metra says the new station at 35th Street along the Rock Island Line will start service on Sunday, April 3. The season's first White Sox baseball game will be the following Thursday, April 7.

The station also will serve the Illinois Institute of Technology and the nearby neighborhoods. There's also a link to Chicago Transit Authority trains. About $4.9 million in federal money funded the station.

It will be dedicated in May to longtime state lawmaker Lovana ``Lou'' Jones, who died in 2006.
