Obama Congratulates Hometown Hockey Champs
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama has welcomed his hometown Chicago Blackhawks to the White House to congratulate them on their long awaited Stanley Cup win.

The president told the hockey players that the presidential duty of honoring championship teams was sweeter Friday because it was the first time he got to offer congratulations to a squad from Chicago.

He said the Blackhawks were part of a Chicago tradition of believing in teams even when victory is a long time coming. The Blackhawks' victory over the Philadelphia Flyers last year brought them their first Stanley Cup since 1961.

The president was presented with a team jersey and a Stanley Cup replica in the South Lawn ceremony, and Blackhawks players were then conducting a hockey clinic for local youths.
