Lincoln Museum Offers Knox County Discount This Month
The state of Illinois has an incentive for Knox County residents this month that might just offset part of the price of gas to get there.

The state is offering half-price admission all-month long to Knox County residents to the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum in Springfield.

Museum spokesman Dave Blanchette tells WGIL it's part of a promotion called "Community Days" that this month also targets residents of Tazewell and Mason Counties.

"Anyone who can present a valid I.D. showing they live in one of those counties, you get half off the normal adult admission price here at the Lincoln Presidential Museum," Blanchette said.

Admission for adults this month would be $6, versus the normal $12. Blanchette tells WGIL it usually takes a lot of time to go through all of the museum.

"A lot of people spend even more time than that, but we always advise people (to) plan on at least three hours, and a little bit more if you want to eat lunch at Subway here in the museum," Blanchette said.

Blanchette says this time of year a lot of families and individuals do make their way through the museum in the heart of the city's Capitol area. But he says while school tours are welcome, they're usually coordinated in such a way that there aren't too many people in the museum at one time.
