Again Cheering for Galesburg
Can you hear Galesburg now? That's a question being asked once again as local organizers are hopeful to put the city in the national spotlight.

Readers Digest is once again holding a "We Hear You America" contest, where people are encouraged to go on a website and cheer for their favorite city. And, in early voting, Galesburg is in second place so far, which could make it eligible for a share of over seven-million dollars in funding and promotional support.

After getting late into the first game last month and just missing out on money, Galesburg is trying again. Landmark Cafe owner Phil Dickinson is helping the effort again, and tells WGIL he heard about the second contest much the same way he heard about the first.

"A former resident of Galesburg who has moved away, was very helpful in letting us know when they had started last time and she was a grate cheerleader last time, actually came across it and let me know via facebook that the program or the thing was going again."

Dickinson says that former resident's help speaks volumes about how even former residents of Galesburg feel about the city, and participating in the contest last time by so many residents near and far means despite what some may say or write, people love Galesburg.
