Emanuel Transition Committee Meets
CHICAGO (AP) -- Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel says he wants to streamline city services including permitting and licensing for small businesses.

Emanuel said Tuesday he wants entrepreneurs who start small businesses to have to deal with only one city agency, not three, to open up shop. He also wants small businesses to be able to transact all their dealings with the city in a paperless way by the end of his four-year term.

Those were some of the goals he talked about with reporters at the kickoff meeting of his Government Reinvention and Budget transition committee. Emanuel will be sworn into office in May and has formed several transition committees to review city operations.

This committee will be reviewing the city's budget and also studying what services the city offers.
