Comptroller Announces Advisory Board
CHICAGO (AP) -- Illinois Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka is announcing an advisory board that will examine the spending practices of more than 8,000 government bodies throughout the state.

In a news release, Topinka says the 31-member board will consult with her on issues related to local government and how those local governmental bodies spend money.

The Local Government Advisory Board, required by state statute, will meet for the first time this spring and then will break up into smaller groups that look at finance, technology, training and legislation.

The board is made up of government officials from counties and communities throughout Illinois, as well as private business people.

There are no Knox County-area officials listed on the board.
