New Abingdon Superintendent to be Named Next Week
It will officially be next week when the Abingdon School District announces who their next superintendent will be.

Outgoing Superintendent Tami Roskamp confirms that the District-217 school board plans to have a meeting next week to vote on a contract for a new Superintendent, and publicly announce who that will be.

Roskamp told reporters at last week's school board meeting it could have been as early as this week when her replacement would be named.

She says the board was in the process of making an offer to the new superintendent, and the board will meet in closed session Thursday night to finalize that work, though no action will be taken.

Roskamp is resigning after about three years to become a superintendent in the Beecher, Illinois, school district in the Chicago suburbs. It's not clear what her salary will be.

Roskamp's base salary here was near $101,000, with another $17,000 in other compensation.

Board members said in January they wanted to have a salary range of $100,000 to 120,000 for a replacement.
