ROWVA Teacher Named Chamber's "Teacher of the Year"
First grade school teacher at ROWVA Central Elementary, Tricia Bledsoe, has been named the Teacher of the Year by the Galesburg-Area Chamber of Commerce.

Bledsoe received the award during the Chamber's monthly breakfast Wednesday morning, but wasn't aware she was nominated.

She tells WGIL she was under the impression she was coming to give a review of technology used in the classroom, but was thankful for the honor.

"I've been had," Bledsoe said, laughing. "I was very surprised, and just honored because there's so many teachers in our community and everywhere that do so much everywhere, to deserve Teacher of the Year. It's just very, very, surprised."

One reason Bledsoe was chosen for the award is because of her use of technology in the classroom, from incorporating interactive smart-boards into lesson plans, or writing a weekly online news letter for student's parents.

Bledsoe also juggles a full schedule with three children of her own and coaches the 7th grade girls basketball team.
