Quinn to Meet with IL Delegation in Washington
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is on the road.

The Chicago Democrat is expected to meet Thursday with members of the Illinois delegation in Washington. They'll meet in the offices of Democratic Sen. Richard Durbin, the state's senior senator.

Those delegation members expected to attend include new Republican Sen. Mark Kirk, who was elected in November to President Barack Obama's former seat.

Quinn spokeswoman Mica Matsoff says it's a chance for him to meet with the new members and talk about issues like the federal budget.

Quinn's trip comes after a headline-grabbing bill signing last week in Chicago when he signed legislation abolishing Illinois' death penalty.

When he signed the bill, Quinn also commuted the death sentences of 15 inmates to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
