Change in The (Springfield) State Journal-Register
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Readers of The (Springfield) State Journal-Register may notice that their daily newspaper looks a bit different.

Beginning with Tuesday's editions, the pages will be a bit smaller, the typefaces will be different, and some features pages will be changing.

The changes coincide with a shift in printing locations from Springfield to Peoria.

That occurred Monday night, and Tuesday's editions are the first printed in Peoria.

The most noticeable change will probably be in the page size. For the past 11 years or so, the newspaper has been printed on a roll of newsprint 50 inches wide. Beginning Tuesday, though, it is being printed on rolls 44 inches wide.

Many other newspapers, including the Chicago Tribune and the new York Times, had earlier moved to the narrower width.
