Oral Histories of Former IL Governor Edgar Online
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The oral histories of former Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar can now be found on the website of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum.

Edgar's eight years as governor also will be the focus of the 2011 Governor's Conference April 15-16.

The Republican was first elected governor in 1990, after serving as a state representative, a legislative liaison to former Gov. James R. Thompson, and as Secretary of State.

The oral histories include more than 30 first-person accounts of Edgar's time as governor, as told by Edgar, administration officials, allies, opponents and journalists.

Edgar is currently a Distinguished Fellow with the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
