|Two Administrators Leave District 205
|Add the Galesburg School District to the list of districts in Knox County losing at least one of their administrators at the end of the school year.
The School Board in the Mount Vernon High School District Wednesday voted to hire Wes Olson as their principal. A salary isn't known, but the man he's replacing made $120,000 in salary and compensation in the 2009-2010 school year.
Olson is former head football coach and teacher, and is currently director of District 205's alternative high school, GHS North. Olson tells WGIL there are similarities between Mount Vernon and Galesburg High Schools...
"The size of the school, very similar enrollment wise to Galesburg High School and the demographic data is very similar in regards to the background of the students and some on the economic make up of things."
Olson says he's proud of the success the alternative school has had in just two years.
Meantime, on the same night, Lombard Junior High School Assistant Principal Tiffany Springer was hired as Principal of Orion Middle School.
Springer tells WGIL she'd like to replicate some of her success in Orion.
"It was looking for someone who liked curriculum and working on getting some of the core subjects in line with common core standards, and someone who really just had a passion for curriculum, and that is actually my driving force in this job actually."
Springer made $88,000 in salary and compensation in 2009-2010 in District 205. She's replacing a principal in Orion who made $103,000 in that same timeframe.
