Patriot Guard Rider is IL Veteran of the Month
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A decorated U.S. Air Force veteran and member of the Illinois Patriot Guard is the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs Veteran of the Month for March.

Rosemary Connolly served in the Air Force for 22 years and retired as a master sergeant.

She currently works for the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation.

Veterans Affairs department officials say the 57-year-old Connolly is being honored for her "extensive work" on behalf of veterans with the Patriot Guard, American Legion, Mothers to Marines and Honor Flight.

Her award is in conjunction with Women's History Month.

The Illinois Veteran of the Month award highlights the work of veterans who perform community service and serve other veterans.
