Orpheum Continues Attendance Success
The president of Galesburg's Orpheum Theatre says attendance and other indicators are continuing to do better than her expectations.

Kate Francis says nowhere is that more evident than in attendance in the first of the theatre's "Red Carpet Series" of shows -- Celtic Crossroads -- earlier this month, which saw nearly a full house and great reaction from the community.

Francis tells WGIL that's already great news, considering the state of the local economy still isn't great.

"We have seen, with the Celtic Crossroads show, more consumer confidence, if we can talk about that on a micro-level," Francis said. "Consumer confidence in folks' willingness to spend money, and maybe even increasing confidence in knowing what they're going to see at the Orpheum Theatre is of the utmost quality."

Francis says 8,500 people have either attended Orpheum shows already this year, or have bought tickets for future shows. That's already about a third of last year's attendance rate, with less than a quarter of this year gone.
