Suburban Cop Convicted in Videotaped Beating
(AP) -- A former suburban Chicago police officer who was captured on video hitting a motorist more than a dozen times with his baton and firing a stun gun at the man's passenger has been found guilty by a judge of aggravated battery and official misconduct.

James Mandarino faces up to five years in prison when he returns to court for sentencing, scheduled for April 25, by Cook County Judge Thomas Fecarotta.

The incident took place on March 28 of last year in Streamwood, where the 42-year-old Mandarino worked as a police officer. During the trial, the judge was shown several times the video that was recorded by a camera mounted on the dashboard of Mandarino's squad car.

Mandarino, a 15-year Streamwood police veteran, was fired after the incident.
