Consumers Complained Most About Debt Problems to AG's Office
Consumer debt complaints were ranked highest among complaints to Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office.

Madigan says coming in at number two, identity theft.

"This is a very serious problem for thousands of people here in Illinois and certainly across the country. A number of years ago when we first started seeing a significant increase in identity theft, we put in place an identity theft hotline. If people have questions, concerns they should absolutely reach out to our office, we can give them guidance and if you are a victim we can help you work through the process of clearing your name and retaining your good credit."

And rounding out the top three complaints, home improvements scams.
Madigan's office handled a total of more than 27,000 complaints last year.
