Illinois Congressman Say President Obama Needs a Libya Timeline
(IRN)--Some members of Illinois' congressional delegation say President Obama must produce a timeline for the United States' involvement in Libya.

U.S. Reps. Don Manzullo (R-Leaf River) and Bobby Schilling (R-Colona) say the nation's future involvement in Libya is uncertain, despite what the Obama administration has said about handing over combat operations to European allies before next week.

"I want to know what the mission is," Schilling says. "Is it just humanitarian, how long are we going to be there, are we going to be there months, years, 10 years?"

Schilling says with troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, he is afraid that soldiers will not get the rest they need should they at some point be deployed to face another conflict.

Manzullo also questions the extent of U.S. involvement in Libya in a humanitarian manner when there have been other such genocide conflicts across the globe where the U.S. has not sent in troops.

"The United States has chosen to get involved supporting one side of the [Libyan] civil war," Manzullo said. "That just adds to the reason as to why we are there. If it's humanitarian, why not the Ivory Coast? If it's humanitarian, why not chastise Saudi Arabia and [United Arab Emirates] for sending in troops into Bahrain which is a Shia majority country in order to support the Sunni monarchy?"
