Illinois Money Manager Took $6 Million
(AP) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has filed a civil complaint against an eastern Illinois money manager accusing him of stealing more than $6 million from investment plans he managed.

The News-Gazette in Champaign reports the complaint accuses 55-year-old Timothy J. Roth of Urbana of taking shares from plans he managed for employees of other companies. According to the complaint, he then sold those shares and moved the money to accounts he controlled. Roth worked for New Jersey-based Comprehensive Capital Management.

Roth has not been charged with a crime. A U.S. Department of Justice spokeswoman would not comment on whether he is being investigated.

Roth could not be reached for comment. An attorney said to represent him did not return calls.

The SEC this week also froze Roth's assets.
