Committee of Ten Plans for Summer Goal
Final recommendations were to be brought before the Committee of Ten Thursday night.

The committee, which is looking at possible consolidation by Bushnell-Prarie City, Abingdon, and Avon, has six sub-committees examining everything from transportation to curriculum.

Four of the six made their final recommendations, but the Communications and Media Committee and Finance Committee did not have them ready.

Committee of Ten Chair Jerry Arthur, however, said those should be wrapped up in a couple months.

"Ultimately, we will take the recommendation from the sub-committees and accept, reject, or modify, and hopefully that will be done by the May meeting. April...I don't think at the April meeting we'd be ready to do that because of the information that's going to the finance committee. We also need to find time to when this committee can say yes or no to some of the things we asked them to respond to."

Arthur says the finance committee is not able to finish their reports until all other sub-committees have made recommendations.

He estimates, however if all goes well, the committee could be circulating information about the consolidation by September and asking the three district school boards to vote on whether to put the measure on the ballot.
