Postal Service to Eliminate 134 Jobs at IL Office
CAROL STREAM, Ill. (AP) -- U.S. Postal Service officials say a district office in suburban Chicago will close and 134 jobs will be eliminated.

The move is part of an effort to save about $750 million annually. Several district closures nationwide are expected.

Postal service spokesman Sean Hargadon says suburban mail will still be processed out of the Carol Stream processing center and the closing won't affect mail service or delivery times.

Also, the Carol Stream post office will stay open.
The postal service lost billions of dollars last year.
Hargadon says the 134 employees will be offered early retirement or can apply for other positions at the postal service.
