New Principal Named at Knoxville Elementary School
Another official with the Galesburg School District is officially leaving to take a job somewhere else.

That's because the Knoxville School board this week voted to hire Tara Bahnks as principal of Mabel Woolsey Elementary School, ending some speculation to that end.

Bahnks is currently the Dean of Students at Churchill Junior High School, after being a reading teacher there before, and tells W-G-I-L she will definitely miss her current job.

"It's kind of a bittersweet situation because I've had a tremendous learning opportunity here with District 205 and they've really taught me quite a bit so I know moving into District 202 I'm going to learn a lot there as well."

Bahnks says she recently received her administration certification, and was looking for an elementary school position, so she says Mabel Woolsey worked out perfectly for her.

District-202 officials say Bahnks will make $67,500 a year plus benefits, $500 less than the man she's replacing, Larry Eastin, makes currently.

Eastin is leaving to become principal of an elementary school in a community south of Danville.
