No Auction Yet of Closed Monmouth School Building
A school closed by the Monmouth-Roseville School District at the end of the last school year due to deep budget cuts won't be going up on the auction block just yet.

The District 238 board last night voted to table putting Willits Primary School up on the auction block. The move is expected to be taken up again next month.

Superintendent Paul Woehlke told a Physical Resources Committee meeting prior to the full board meeting that a couple of factors made putting Willits up for auction an option, one of which was the recent donation of a house to the district.

"They have another home for the district office and the Regional Office of Education has not expressed any interest in being housed at Willits, so we've not identified any district purpose for the facility at this point."

But Board members expressed concern about waiting to do anything with the building until it's learned whether or not money will come in for a planned new agriculture classroom and a weight room.

They also didn't want to really use the house for a district office, partly because of some space issues, and costs associated with renovating the house.

Board members last night did approve a sweeping list of targets for student achievement at all district buildings, made possible in part by the transition into grade based attendance centers.
