South Peoria Man Gets 35 Years for Murder
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- A judge in central Illinois has sentenced a South Peoria man to 35 years in prison for his part in the killing of a convenience store owner.

The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that 19-year-old Keith Little pleaded guilty to first-degree murder for the March 2010 death of Abdallah Kattoum. The store owner was shot during an armed robbery.

In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors agreed to the 35-year sentence. That's 10 years less than the minimum 45 years Little could have gotten had he gone to trial. Prosecutors also dropped the weapons charges Little also faced.

Assistant State's Attorney Deborah Shelby says Little acted as a lookout while another man robbed the store and Little later admitted that the gun used was his.
