City Council Approves Higher Loan for Galesburg Centre, LLC
City council members have okayed an additional loan to Galesburg Centre, LLC.

The company owns the former Eagle Foods store and plans to open a World Buffet and Dunham Sporting Goods store in the building.

Galesburg Centre LLC was awarded a city loan of $225,000 in November, but
says they need more because estimated costs of refurbishing the building were short by about $250,000.

Part of the reason for that is because of the delayed opening of the restaurant, which Marty Graff, a manager of Galesburg Centre, says should happen soon.

"It really has exceeded my expectations, how nice it is, they've used, and I don't mean to avoid the question, but they've utilized beautiful materials, beautiful ceramic floors, beautiful lighting-chandeliers, beautiful tables, I think everybody's going to be really excited about it. [Opening] has taken a lot longer for a lot of reasons, to get to the question, they're talking a matter of weeks now."

The council approved an additional $75,000 on top of the November loan, brining it up to $300,000.
