District-205 Board Discusses Master Facilities Plan Monday Night
One recent item the Galesburg School District has proposed likely won't be discussed Monday night.

That's because a proposal to re-open the recently-signed contract with the Galesburg Education Association in order to make budget cuts isn't on tonight's Galesburg School Board meeting agenda.

The District proposed that a few weeks ago, much to the dismay of the teachers union, claiming that more attention is being given to the Master Facilities Plan than educating students.

Speaking of that plan, the District-205 board Monday evening will consider letting bids go out for one phase of work to be done at Lombard Middle School, while they'll vote on the two-point-one million dollars in bids received for some of the infrastructure work at the school -- work that the district says came in over three-hundred dollars less than budgeted.

The Galesburg School Board will meet at seven o'clock Monday night at Lincoln School.

Meantime, the G-E-A announced Monday morning that today is a "day of unity" for the union. The neon green shirts worn by the union in last year's Labor Day Parade are being worn by employees Monday.
