Local Businessman and Auctioneer Passes Away
A Galesburg man known as much for giving a lot back to his community as he was known in the business community has passed away.

Mike Cratty died Monday night at his Galesburg home at the age of 57.

Cratty is a Galesburg native, and among his relatives is former Galesburg Fire Chief and Current Monmouth Fire Chief John Cratty.

Cratty owned an operated his own insurance agency in town. In addition, he was also a local real estate agent, serving two terms as president of the West Central Illinois Association of Realtors.

But more than that, he also has been an auctioneer for more than the last three decades. Those talents could be seen in action at numerous charity functions over the years, most notably for the annual auction at Costa Catholic Academy for the last 25 years, for Discovery Depot Childrens Museum, and other entities.

A funeral for Cratty will be Friday at 10am at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Galesburg, with a visitation Thursday from 3 to 7pm at Watson Funeral Home in Galesburg.

Cratty leaves behind his wife Karen, a daughter, and two sons.
