Library to Highlight Significant Women in Galesburg History
The Galesburg Public Library Thursday is hosting a program to celebrate Women's History Month, and more specifically, to highlight important women in Galesburg.

Library Archivist Patty Mosher says her and local historian Barbara Schock have been planning Thursday's forum to honor the women who have shaped the city over its 175 years in existence.

Mosher tells the WGIL Morning News she and Schock will be focusing on ladies who've made Galesburg a wonderful place to live.

"We thought it would be interesting to talk about Galesburg women who had an impact on society in Galesburg, Illinois, and the nation," Mosher said. "We don't time to discuss all the women who are so fascinating, but we've chosen a few that we've researched individually and have a great deal of information on."

The program begins at 6:30pm on the second floor of the Galesburg Public Library, inside the Sanderson Room.

Mosher says there'll be time for questions and answers before it's scheduled to end at 7:45pm.

She says some of the women to be highlighted include humanitarians Mary Allen West and Lucey Chase, along with journalist Mary Allensworth Creighton.
