Honoring Women on City Council Agenda
It's Women's History Month, and the Galesburg City Council will take note of that through a pair of items on their agenda Monday night.

Mayor Sal Garza Monday evening is scheduled to issue a proclamation marking Women's History Month in Galesburg, then an item he said he wanted to work on related to women will be considered.

Aldermen Monday are to consider a resolution regarding the naming of current and future Galesburg facilities after women noted in Galesburg's history.

Garza has said there's no real formal policy regarding naming anything after anyone, and that he wants to honor the women who's helped shape Galesburg.

Garza formed a committee to that end, consisting of him, the City Manager, Carl Sandburg College president Lori Sundberg, and Knox College president Teresa Amott.

Aldermen Monday night will also, among other items, considering a first-ever half-marathon to be held in Galesburg, when they meet at 6:30 Monday evening inside council chambers at Galesburg City Hall.
