Heavy Hitter Will Help Celebrate Local Agriculture
A big name that's a part of a big employer will be part of the return of what once was an annual event in Galesburg.

The Galesburg-Area Chamber of Commerce and the Knox County Farm Bureau are sponsoring a "Farm City Day" dinner Tuesday night at the Lincoln Room of Knox College.

Farm Bureau president Kelli Wagahoff tells WGIL an industry that relies heavily both the city and the farm will be well represented: Burlington Northern Santa Fe, though its COO Carl Ice.

"One of our top priorities was to find a speaker that both organizations and both groups could relate to and find interest in," she said. "And of course the railroad here in Knox County and in Galesburg is definately a big topic that everyone wants to hear about."

"And I think we have a great speaker lined up and we're really excited for the event."

Wagahoff and Maus say they thought it would be appropriate to bring Farm City Day back because in part of the city's 175th anniversary and how important agriculture has become and continues to be in the community.

Maus says Farm City Day Tuesday will start at 5pm, and while it's open to the public, reservations need to be made, so you can call the Chamber for more information.
