Man Accused of Sex Charges Pleads Not Guilty
A London Mills man has pleaded not guilty to charges accusing him of having sex with a minor several times in the last several months.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 26-year old James Laird pleaded not guilty during an arraignment hearing Thursday to charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault, Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, and Criminal Sexual Assault.

Laird was first arrested in early February accused of having sexual contact with a young female on several occasions between October of last year, and the time of his arrest.

Laird also asked for a trial by jury through his public defender. A pre-trial conference in the case has been scheduled for May 7th.

Laird remains jailed on $200,000 bond. A motion had been filed to reduce that bail, but it has yet to be taken up.
