Search for Orpheum Leader Continues
The search for the next president of Galesbug's Orpheum Theatre may be close to ending, or it may not be.

But minutes released from a recent meeting may indicate possible closure.

The Knox County Civic Center Authority Board Wednesday approved minutes from a special meeting held March 9th indicating that a closed-door executive session was held related to compensation and benefits that would be offered to a candidate for President and Managing Director of the Orpheum.

The minutes indicate that the board directed CCA Chairperson Jan Occhi to extend an offer to a candidate. A closed-door executive session was held Thursday as well, but no action was taken afterwards.

Occhi says after seeing the day-to-day operations of the Orpheum in the absence of a president, she doesn't want the job.

Kate Francis resigned in January to move to Missouri and work with the Jazz St. Louis organization.

WGIL archives indicate that before Francis was hired over five years ago, it took six months for the C-C-A board to find a replacement.
