Man Involved in Shooting Incident Pleads Guilty
The Galesburg man accused of trying to rob a man siting in his car has pleaded guilty in the case.

Knox County Circuit Court records indicate 18-year old Devonta Parker pleaded guilty Monday morning to a single charge of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, and was sentenced as part of a plea deal to 15 years in prison.

Several more serious charges were dropped, also as part of the plea deal.

Parker and 18-year old Tyrone Haywood were arrested in early July, after they went to the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 15-hundred block of Monmouth Boulevard, attempting to break into a car to try and rob then-22-year old Jordan Allen.

Allen ended up being shot in the chest, and was later transported to a Peoria hospital after being found in his apartment.

Haywood pleaded guilty several months ago to a charge of Armed Robbery, but two other charges were held open until he was able to testify at Parker's trial.

It's not clear what will happen, but a hearing in Haywood's case is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
