Sixth Presidential Candidate Named for Spoon River College
There's now a sixth candidate bidding for their shot to become the next president of Spoon River College.

That's according to a news release issued by the college Monday, which states Dr. Lisa McWherter has joined the running.

Officials say McWherter most recently worked for South Carolina-based ResCare, Inc. as a Project Director with ResCare Workforce Services. They say she's served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement and was Executive Director of the Foundation at Tri-County Technical College in South Carolina.

McWherter has a General Management Program Certificate from Harvard Business School, and earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University.

An interview is scheduled for March 21st on both the Canton and Macomb campuses, with a video conference for question and answer also planned at each location.

McWherter joins five others looking to succeed the retiring Doctor Robert Ritschel as the next president of Spoon River College. Two other candidates have ties to the school. Carol Davis is currently the Vice President of Community Outreach, and Curt Oldfield is the former Dean of Instruction.

College officials say interviews will be conducted through the 28th of March, and say the position is still open to additional candidates.
