Another Alderman Resigns from Knoxville City Council
FIRST REPORTED 5:30am 3/8/12 One Knoxville alderman is resigning from his city council post after serving almost four years.

Jim Eastwood submitted his letter of resignation as First Ward Alderman during Monday night's regular council meeting.

He says he's moving out of the ward, and that it's one of the hardest decisions he's ever had to make. Eastwood tells WGIL he thinks his services to the council impacted the city well.

"I didn't sit on my butt," Eastwood said. "A lot of things got started. I had a couple of ideas, and the council...we all talked about it, and, as a whole, decided about it. There's quite a bit done. That survey...instrumental. That got everything started, really."

Eastwood is describing the revitalization project for Main Street in Knoxville, put on by the University of Illinois Extension Office.

He says he's going to miss everything about the city council, including fellow council members, residents, and the decision making process.

Acting Mayor Bob Johnson says Eastwood will be missed because he's such a hard worker and is conscientious of all issues. He says the resignation is effective Friday.
