District 202 is Now App-Friendly
The Knoxville School District is now connecting with the community via a phone and tablet application.

Last month District 202 launched a new iPhone and iPad application through developer 'Team-Info App.' Superintendent Steve Wilder says the app will provide team schedules, directions to game sites, and other district documents.

Wilder tells WGIL he learned of the opportunity through a mass e-mail and sat on the concept for a couple months before making a decision.

"I thought for the price we would give it a shot, and see how welcome it was for the community," Wilder said. "So far it seems it's starting to take off. We're working hard to populate that app with good information and current information."

"But if we know people are using it, we'll dedicate more resources to that and we'll see how it goes."

Wilder says the district paid $199 dollars for a year's worth of services through the Apple application.

To access the app, he says users must first download the 'Team-Info App' for 99-cents. Then, he says, users can search by state to locate Knoxville's specific interface.

Wilder says if the community's interest is high and the district renews it's contract, then there's opportunity for business sponsorship.
