Knoxville Library Needs More Than Power Wash
The Knoxville City Council thought all the library needed was a bath, but instead, they've discovered it needs a lot more strenuous work done.

In preparing to have the Knoxville Public Library power washed, Acting Mayor Bob Johnson says it was determined it first needs to be tuck-pointed-- and he tells WGIL that's a good thing.

In looking at having it power-washed, we noticed that it needed some tuckpointing," Johnson said. "You don't want to power-wash a building until you tuckpoint it; otherwise, you're going to have more moisture in it. The power-washing will come at a later time. T he first thing that's going to be done is the tuckpointing."

Johnson says the council will be contacting bricklayers and other laborers to spread the word that bids will be put out.

He says he expects the tuck pointing to cost the city around $25,000. Johnson is targeting June as the month he hopes the work can be completed.
