City Council to Meet At Armory
After a plan was ended to develop the vacant National Guard Armory, the Galesburg City Council will meet to discuss the matter Monday night.

As opposed to meeting at Galesburg City Hall, the usual meeting place for the Council, aldermen will meet at the armory itself.

The Galesburg City Council has been considering what to do with the vacant property for quite some time.

Most recently, a proposal to turn the armory into a martial arts and events center was ended by the City.

The item to develop the location was removed from a City Council agenda. No action is expected to be taken by the Council.

Any plans to develop the building, which is currently owned by the City, would require the removal of asbestos as well as other materials.

Monday night's meeting begins at 5:30 at the armory in closed door session.
