Train Hits Truck Sunday Morning In Galesburg
Galesburg Police responded to the scene of an accident where injuries were reported Sunday morning.

Officers arrived on scene just after 5 a-m to the area just North of Broad and Water Street in Galesburg.

According to the report, 23 year old Jeff Pinker's truck was hit on the drivers side by a BNSF train.

When officers arrived, the truck was still in contact with the train. Police tried to keep Pinker awake until emergency medical responders were on scene.

Officers noted they could smell alcohol on Pinker's breath. The Galesburg Fire Department removed the roof of the truck and the passenger seat in order to lift Pinker from the vehicle.

The train was travelling at a speed of 20-27 miles per hour upon impact. There were 47 cars on the train in total.

Pinker suffered a gash on the left side of his face before being transferred to Galesburg Cottage Hospital.

The hospital conducted blood tests and allegedly found a Blood Alcohol level of .291.

Once interviewed by police, Pinker didn't know where he was and was apparently surprised to find himself in Galesburg, thinking he was in Monmouth.

X-rays showed multiple facial and rib fractures in addition to teeth being pushed up into Pinker's sinuses. He was transported to St. Francis in Peoria due to the severity of his injuries.

Pinker is being charged with disobeying a traffic control device, DUI, and criminal trespass to land.
