School Board Hires New Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations
There were quite a few important items on the agenda for District 205 Board of Education meeting Monday night.

They approved the first phase design of the New Galesburg High School and tabled the policy on advertising rights until more research could be done.

But the biggest announcement came towards the the middle of the meeting when Director for Human Resources Diane VanHootegem announced their recommendation for the position of Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations--David Black.

Black who's currently the Superintendent for Abingdon School District tells WGIL he's extreamly happy to be joining District 205 but he is well aware this job will be very different that what he's use to.

"The scale is different, the board meetings themselves, the administrative team I get to work with, you know, on a central office administrator level I was a one man band and now I'm working with some very quality people," says Black. "Like any job, it's nice when there's a team."

Black was officially hired last night but won't be taking over until July first 2013.

Until then Interm Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations Jim Rich will stay in the position.

Under his new title Black will be making a little more than 118-thousand dollars a year working for the District.
