New Tourism Guides Are Here
There might be a bit of a new look to the annual visitors guide put out by the Galesburg-area Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Executive Director Judy Guenseth says while the "Experience Galesburg" guide didn't necessarily need a makeover, there have been some improvements.

Guenseth tells the WGIL Morning News one of the first jobs was to add a bit of visual appeal from cover to cover.

"One of the things that I've done since I started was to get a huge catalog of pictures," says Guenseth. "I hired Kent Kriegshauser to do some work and a lot of his work is in the visitors guide."

Guenseth says a state grant her office received last year helped pay for that work.

She says also new to the visitors guide this year is the addition of a "nightlife" section -- a listing of downtown entertainment venues -- the sort of thing she says visitors guides from other areas already highlighted.

Visitors guides are available at the Welcome Center on East Main Street, or at other venues around town, including the WGIL Studios on Simmons Street.
