Library Project Making Progress
The Galesburg Library Board of Trustees held a special meeting Thursday afternoon for the sole purpose of approving the payment for the Geotechnical investigation they must have done before any construction work can begin.

A company by the name of Geotechnics - which is a division of Klinger and Associates in Galesburg - has already come out to the future site of the new library to start mapping out the area to survey.

Board President Martin Reichel told the board they'd be voting retroactively at this point since the works already started but the company came highly recommended.

"This was the company that was recommended by the engineer from FEH even though if you look at the raw numbers, theirs wasn't the lowest but when you look at, it says they didn't compare apples to apples, because some people voted on a bore hole this deep and others went deeper to the depth the architects recommended," says Reichel.

Reichel told the board the total amount was a little over 55-hundred-dollars and that was a one lump fee.

The purpose of the Geotechnical investigation is to analyze the structure if the soil and determined what the load baring properties are.

The board unanimously approved the measure.

Reichel is hopeful the work will start today or sometime soon after.
