SBC Informs At Conference
The Galesburg Sustainable Business Center recently presented at a conference in Peoria regarding business development.

Representatives of the small business incubator gave talks on attracting green and socially responsible companies to local communities.

The Illinois Institute of Rural Affairs hosted the conference and aims to showcase novel approaches to community development.

Incubator Director Eric Dilts tells WGIL they learned several things at the conference.

"On a positive note I would say just how progressive the City of Galesburg is with their economic development strategy, compared to other communities I think we have a lot going for us, we have a lot of advantages that most communities don't have. And I think we're forward thinking and in our approach to the future of the world market place and to the economy and how we're going to tackle that and create jobs for the community."

Dilts says that community representatives in attendance enjoyed the recruiting and development of young entrepreneurs aspect of their presentation.

Among the items listeners were most interested in was the community outreach portion.

Many communities struggle to keep young entrepreneurs and businesses in their local area.
