Knoxville Goes Green
The City of Knoxville painted the town green and filled the air with the sounds of Irish pride Sunday afternoon.

There might not have been a band or drums but Knoxville's community organizations and the Knoxville Fire Department did their best to bring the sound the green isles of Ireland.

This was the first year for the Knoxville St. Patrick's Day Parade and Community Action Team member Vicky Schultz tells WGIL they already do a Christmas parade and they couldn't think of a better way of get residents involved in Spring time event.

"This came about through out Community Action Team. We are trying to get community involvement and we were excited that this might be the way to do that. We wish the weather was a little better, but we have found that this brings enthusiasm and so we're excited about that."

Schultz says they were a little disappointed that the bands could not be apart of the parade due to a band competition but they weren't going to let that stop them.

There streets weren't overly crowed with people watching but there was a decent size turn out.

Schultz says she's hopeful this parade will become a Knoxville tradition just like their Christmas Parade.
