Stark County Mother Sent To Prison
A Stark County woman who caused a lot of controversy last year when she falsely claimed her baby daughter was abducted will be going to prison for the crime.

Quad Cities television station WHBF reports 19-year old Kendra Meaker was given a sentence of three years in prison Friday afternoon after pleading guilty in January to a felony charge of Obstruction of Justice, and a misdemeanor count of Endangering the Health of a Child.

WHBF says Meaker was emotional inside the Stark County courtroom in Toulon where she was sentenced, and apologized for her actions.

Prosecutors say Meaker was frustrated from some constant crying then-three-week-old Mia Gracie Thompson was doing back late last September, when she drove the child to a ditch and left her there.

She then went to police and said the child was abducted from her car when she went to a Toulon post office.

The abduction report touched off a statewide Amber Alert, with volunteers finding the baby about 12 hours after the abduction report.

WHBF reports custody of little Mia and her sibling will remain with Meaker's parents for now.
