Quinn Wants Reforms Voted on "One by One"
Testifying before the Illinois Reform Commission Thursday, Gov. Pat Quinn says he wants lawmakers to vote on the commission's proposed reforms "one by one by one."

The commission, created by Quinn while he was still lieutenant governor, was charged with reforming everything from campaign finance to the way criminal investigations are handled. Quinn is confident lawmakers in Springfield will see the need for change.

"The reason why I think we can get it done is we have one former governor in jail, another former governor a week ago indicted on 19 counts. That's not acceptable to the people of the Land of Lincoln," Quinn said.

Commission Chairman Patrick Collins reported to Quinn that the commission's final report will be complete by April 27 and released the following day. Quinn says he wants lawmakers in Springfield to pass the reforms before the end of May. If lawmakers take no action, Quinn says it may be necessary to go directly to the people by petition and referendum.
