Bragg: Visioning Sessions Worked How They Were Supposed To
Galesburg's City Manager used the word "overwhelmed" to describe what he feels is the success of the six community visioning sessions the city has hosted.

Dane Bragg says he thought at the time of the first session in March that maybe 25 or 30 people would show up at the sessions that were designed to help come up with ideas for the city's overall economic development plan. But consistently, as many as 80 have showed up, which he calls tremendous.

What's more, Bragg tells WGIL the crowd was always diverse and always ready to work. "We've seen different people come to each session, which is great," Bragg said. "We see people with different backgrounds and interests coming, and everyone coming is actively participating, too. We've really had a pretty good groundswell out of it that, quite frankly, we didn't expect."

Bragg says the process of evaluating all the ideas generated from the sessions is beginning now, many are posted HERE. The ideas will then be given to the city's Economic Development Network, so they can help formulate a plan, but there's also a possibility of either more sessions, or a city-wide online survey.

Either way, Bragg says he is grateful for all the help.
