First Appearance for Man Accused of Sex Assault
A Knox County man will be heading for trail after being accused of having improper contact with a young child.

29-year old Christopher Perdue of Yates City was in Knox County Court earlier this week with his attorney, after his first appearance was continued until recently because he told the judge he was still in the process of hiring an attorney. Perdue will next be in Knox County Court May 19th for a preliminary hearing. A motion for discovery had also been filed in this latest appearance in court.

Perdue is being charged with a Class-X felony court of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child after he was arrested last month on a Knox County warrant. Knox County Court records indicate Perdue is alleged to have had improper sexual contact with a female between the ages of six and 13.

Perdue was released on March 27th after posting 10 percent of his $100,000 bond and could face anywhere between six and 30 years in prison if convicted.

Judge Dwayne Morrision, at the last hearing, ordered Perdue to have no contact with minors other than his own children.
