BNSF Official Pleased With Durbin's Visit
A visit from Illinois' senior U-S senator to talk about expansions and improvements made along local rail lines pleased one Burlington Northern Santa Fe official.

Terminal Superintendent of Galesburg's largest employer Rick Danielson says he was pleased with Senator Dick Durbin's visit on Thursday to show Durbin how the terminal operates.

Danielson met with Durbin and State Representative Don Moffitt, as well as other local officials, to talk specifically about plans to make improvements to the rail yard, grade separations in town and proposed construction and upgrades at the Amtrak Depot. Danielson tells WGIL he was happy to have the chance to show off the yard.

"It was a great opportunity to spend time with Seantor Durbin and be able to showcase the yard - we're very proud of our yard and proud of our workforce here in Galesburg. I think they do an outstanding job."

Danielson says the grade separations would be beneficial to the city of Galesburg, serving it's residents and businesses alike. He says it's also beneficial for emergency services and visitors to the area.

Danielson says he was also happy to acquaint Durbin with how operations at the yard work. He says some of the projects that could be seen at the yard include signal work, new side tracks and a new departure point for outgoing trains.
