Galesburg Clean Up Days Begins Monday, April 20th
A chance for Galesburg residents to clean out their homes of their winter mess will be available this week. The annual Galesburg Clean Up Days will be held tomorrow through April 24th in town, giving residents to get rid of oversized items they have in their homes that wouldn't normally be picked up on trash days.

Associate Planner for the City of Galesburg, Julie Main, tells WGIL, this is a chance for residents to throw out large items without needing a city sticker to do so.

Main says, "This is the time of year to take advantage of putting out your oversized items which are basically things that don't fit in your trash can or weigh more than 50 pounds such as appliences, or furniture. Some people may have been keeping things may have been keeping things over the winter and it's time to get it out."

Items that cannot be picked up by Waste Management employees to be taken to the landfill include liquid paint, car batteries, propane tanks or large amounts of demolition waste. Main says that there are other programs in the city that take items such as old televisions, computer monitors, and VCR's.

Main says the items will be picked up from homes on their typical trash day and not throughout the week.
