Gun Restriction Bill Falls Flat in Illinois House
A proposed limit on handgun purchases - to one per month per person - has failed in the Illinois House of Representatives.

State Reprentative Mike Bost (R-Murphysboro) said handguns are already against the law in Chicago, and there is no need for the entire state to have to fall into step. "You currently can buy 100 guns at one time," said Representative Deborah Graham (D-Chicago). "Twelve guns is enough for one year. We've made every piece of gun legislation that's come forth a Chicago issue, but this is a statewide issue that we have."

Said sponsoring Representative Luis Arroyo (D-Chicago): "A significant percentage of handguns used in violent crimes have been part of multiple sales. This would reduce the possibility of a straw man purchase."

Bost: "Leave my people alone." H.B. 12 has failed in the House, 54-61.
